Fright Night is a Comedy, Suspense/Horror, 3D and Remake film set to be released this August 19, 2011 in theaters wide. The story in the movie Fright Night (2011), senior Charlie Brewster finally has it all -- he's running with the popular crowd and dating the hottest girl in high school. In fact, he's so cool he's even dissing his best friend Ed. But trouble arrives when an intriguing stranger Jerry moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there's something not quite right -- and everyone, including Charlie's mom, doesn't notice. After witnessing some very unusual activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on his neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone that he's telling the truth, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie, under the distribution of Touchstone Pictures, MPAA rating as R. Fright Night cast are Anton Yelchin as Charley Brewster, Colin Farrell as Jerry Dandridge, David Tennant as Peter Vincent, Toni Collette as Jane Brewster, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as "Evil" Ed Thompson, Lisa Loeb as Evil Ed's mother, Imogen Poots as Amy Peterson, Dave Franco as Mark and Sandra Vergara as Ginger. Principal photography with 3D cameras began in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with Las Vegas set as the backdrop on June 26, 2010, and wrapped in October 2010. Fright Night was distributed by the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group under the Touchstone Pictures division. 

Fright Night received generally positive reviews from critics; it currently holds a 76% "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an even higher of 88% when narrowed down to the top critics, with the consensus being, "It may not have been necessary to remake the 1985 cult classic, but the new Fright Night benefits from terrific performances by Colin Farrell and David Tennant -- and it's smart, funny, and stylishly gory to boot." It received a 67/100 "Metascore" from Metacritic, indicating "generally favorable reviews". 

Robert Koehler, who reviews the movie for Variety, writes Fright Night has "a cleverly balanced mix of scares and laughs" and that it is "funnier and more terrifying than the 1985 original on which it's based". Sean O'Connell, reviewing the movie for The Washington Post, also praised it as an improvement over the original and calls it "superior in virtually every aspect", but criticizes the use of 3D as "ineffective" and "forgettable". 

Director Craig Gillespie stated that the film will be released on DVD and Blu Ray in a combo pack along with the original Fright Night as well as its sequel Fright Night II.
